Malignant cancerous tumor became benign

Jakob Wendesten was miraculously healed as a child and as a 15-year-old he chose to give 100 percent to God. Today he lives to tell others about Jesus. – God gave me my life and the life that Jesus gives is the best there is. I just want to give back, he says.
Jakob Wendesten is today 23 years old. He grew up in a Christian home on Hönö in the Gothenburg archipelago.
– I have probably always had a faith in God. He’s the best thing that ever happened to me. He is my Father in Heaven.
As a child, Jakob contracted the RS virus. He was close to death, but recovered. As a six-year-old, the next press came.

Malignant tumor
– I was out swimming one summer day. Mom noticed that the neck muscle at my left shoulder looked bigger. Dad first thought I was starting to gain muscle, but Mom got worried and took me to the hospital for an examination. The tests showed that it was a malignant cancerous tumor. The doctors would operate on it and then I would get chemotherapy.
– I was so small so I did not understand how dangerous it was, but I knew something was wrong.
After the operation, new samples were taken from the cancerous lump that had been removed.
– Now it turned out that the cancer was instead benign. The doctors were nervous. They did not understand how it was possible that a malignant tumor could suddenly become benign.
– An American professor who looked at the tumor and at the samples taken before stated that the samples were completely different, but had no explanation. He discussed it at a medical congress. But no one could give an answer.
Jacob is convinced that it was God who intervened.
– There were many who prayed for us during this time and God hears our prayers. My congregation prayed that the cancer would give way, that God would heal me and that I would avoid chemotherapy.
Because the tumor was benign, no chemotherapy was needed. Jakob was declared healthy and had to leave the hospital after only one week.

Tough teens
Jakob says that during his teens he did not always live as a model Christian, but his faith has always been self-evident.
– God has given me my life. And I just want to give my life back to God.
In my teens, it was a little tough sometimes.
– I saw new things in the world that attracted and at school I was sometimes teased because I believed in God. It was as if I was putting on a mask to live up to something I was not. It happened that I came home and cried because it was hard. But Mom and I used to talk about what Jesus would have done.
Jacob explains that he believed in God, but that he did not live for God. He tried to satisfy himself, even though the void in the soul can not be filled with anyone but God.

Two future photos At
the age of 15, he went to a Christian ski camp.
– I saw that there was something special about the young people there. They had something I did not have. They were happy from the inside out. I wanted to be too.
– One night at the camp I had a fantastic meeting with God. I cried and cried, so that there was a puddle on the floor, but there were tears of joy. I felt I was loved by God. It was as if my sins were being cleansed. I realized what God had done for me. From that day on, I decided to give 100 percent to God.
Some time later, Jakob saw two visions or future images.
– I got to see myself at the age of 25. I was standing on a stage in Africa preaching to a sea of people. It felt very scary to me, because I was very shy. I also saw a small child and understood that it was my future child. It was as if God gave me a future. He gave me a goal and showed me where I was going in my life. I have always had a mission in my heart and for me it was like a confirmation. God gave me an extra push in the back, that you can do this.

Filmed secretly on Skype
Today, parts of the vision have become a reality. Jakob has been to Ethiopia six times, together with Per Åkvist and Joshua Campaign. Several times he has preached to lots of people, and through a trip to Ethiopia he also met his wife Shana.
– I met an American man there. He thought I would fit in well with his daughter, so when he called her on Skype he secretly filmed me at the same time. Then he tried to have a conversation with me while he was in contact with his daughter. That’s the way it is.
– We first met on Facebook and then I went to the US and met her for real. When she came to Sweden a little later I proposed and she said yes. We got married in 2015 and since then we live in Kentucky, USA. I work as an assistant pastor and evangelist and in addition to traveling to Ethiopia, I have also been to Kenya, India and Haiti. We go to places where Christianity is not so widespread, hold campaigns and preach the gospel.

Living his dream
Jacob has a longing to tell Jesus as many people as possible.
– When I gave my life to God, it was as if it just exploded inside me. Jesus has saved me and healed me. It’s too much for me to keep to myself. It must be spread. Every morning when I wake up I think about who I can meet, who I can help and who I can reach with the gospel. Time flies and everyone needs to hear the message.
For many years, Jakob has felt that he would live in the United States in the future.
– When I was little, my dad talked about maybe living in the US together in the future. I stayed on Hönö until three and a half years ago. But I’ve always had a dream about America.
– Today I live in the USA and live my dream – with my wife as my best supporter. I have been saved from death physically and I have been saved from death spiritually. How can I but give my life back to God and live the life I have received to His glory!
